Step Into Work
Step Into Work
The Step Into Work project is a resource base for certified ICT training and open learning opportunities. As part of a flexible learning arrangement, it works in partnership with the Dumfries and Galloway College to provide a base where students can study open learning courses up to Higher National Certificate level and ICT to European Computer Driving Licence standard. It is a Scottish Qualification Approved Centre.
The learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed environment and progresses at the participants pace. Many people find the social side of using the service as helpful as the training.
Step Back in Time is a small project within the Step Into Work service, based in Newton Stewart. It uses the Get Into Enterprise Training Pack as a means of supporting people to develop a range of vocational skills while pursuing their interest in local history. It supports the development of literacy, numeracy and IT skills together with all aspects of being part of and running a group such as; communication skills, working as a team, forming a committee, minute taking, filling in forms, budgeting and so on.
This service is open to anyone who identifies that their experience of mental health difficulties has had an impact on their vocational activity and who would like this specialist support to assist that part of their recovery.
Social Care Services also operate from these premises. See The Step Out Club link.
